A Note from Theatre Revolution Founder on 10 Years of TR

It was late summer/early autumn 2016, Obama was still president and hope was alive. An idea that had followed me from my very early days as a young writer wouldn’t let up. Use livestreaming to create a new “Playhouse 90” that would promote theatremakers in a new medium. By October of that year, we did a livestream of my first play Good Friday directed by Anthony Valbiro.

Then November 2016 happened and it was time to highlight women theatremakers and called it Glass Ceiling Breakers. It continues on and is the first Women's Play Festival as well as the first Women's Film Festival in the Hudson Valley.

Unable to shake the idea of promoting and connecting the vibrant theatre artists of  the Hudson Valley to each other, we pivoted again to create short social media videos that highlighted rehearsals, writers, actors and directors (thank you Michael Sullivan for all those interviews!) The result was a HUGE success that led to connection and community and the 914Inc Women in Business Award.

More recently, TR has created short films, full length plays and social media promotions in new and different ways, always with an eye on revolution/evolution and connecting artists to each other.

It would be impossible to list ALL of the artists and audiences that have been part of and/or contributed to Theatre Revolution over its 10 years, but I absolutely have to mention Nora Matz who joined me as TR Co-Producer and collaborator in all things TR in 2019 and helped raise TR to the next level. Thank you Nora! And thank you to Julia LaVerde who has taken on the role of producer over the last few years with her calm and steady energy and talent.

We need artists and community now more than ever and we can't wait to see you at TR's 10 Year Anniversary celebration!

Many, many, many thanks,

The Theatre Revolution mission is founded on the principle of connecting artists to each other and to the community. We promote artists and produce work that is inclusive, reflects the diversity of our world and impacts our audiences by making them laugh, cry and wonder.
